I’m honestly not really sure what you’re suggesting the alternative is here? That every single person is constantly politically engaged and actively lobbying for whatever changes they want to see in society? My gut feeling is that that doesn’t turn out well for anyone, because a lot of people have ideas for change that would really not be good for society as a whole. I’m not saying, either, that I think the status quo should stay static. It’s obvious that everything around me is evolving constantly, it’s just not evolving much in directions I’m passionately opposed to. Note that I’m not in the US.
