Can you also send me the code? I really like the “contractual” approach you are taking, and I suspect that it may be valuable to apply these kinds of contracts to smaller, inner subsets of your programme, even if you cannot apply them to the entirety of the standard library.
(I suspect that adding these to the standard library might be a good job for an automated coding tool… and I'm not sure if this is something that is worth human effort. I am even somewhat skeptical that the effort to add PEP-484 type hints to NumPy was worth the effort…)
I am curious how your approach plays out in practice, and whether it may be more effective than the more traditional approaches than by Python and other tools (which I initially found disappointingly unimaginative.) I am also curious how it differs from deft.
