I have not seen one, there is the ACP where it was decided to add it https://github.com/rust-lang/libs-team/issues/130, but in that one (or in the implementation pr) there is not any discussion about the saturating vs other solutions as far as I can tell. If you make one let me know I would like to follow the discussion as well.
